European Commission Calls for Pirate Site Blocking Around the Globe

The European Commission has urged countries around the world to implement measures to block access to websites that facilitate copyright infringement. The Commission believes that such measures are necessary to protect the rights of copyright holders and to ensure that creators are fairly compensated for their work. The Commission has also called for increased cooperation between countries to ensure that pirate sites are blocked effectively.

Block European Commission

Good luck with that.

This is the best tl;dr I could make, [original]( reduced by 92%. (I’m a bot)
> Overall, the European Commission report gives the impression that pirate site blocking is a globally accepted standard.

> While U.S. rightsholders obtain site blocking orders throughout the world, these types of no-fault blocking measures are unavailable on home turf, where online piracy volumes are largest globally.

> In recent years there have been calls to make site blocking measures available in the U.S. but, thus far, this hasn't resulted in concrete action.

That report reads like it owes more to the EU’s diplomatic positions than anything actually involving piracy.

It’s a Bi-annual report both the US and EU release (the report is almost a 1-1 with the US one releases a few weeks ago) that simply lists and acknowledges some facts. No action will come from it (the reports have been released for decades without action).

This isn’t about enforcement. Misleading title.
