You could ban Crypto, ban the internet, ban everything, and some old dude would still lose his life savings in a scam of some kind.

*An Ontario man says he is ‘devastated’ after spending his entire life savings in an investment scam he got involved from a YouTube video he watched.*

I’m done reading.

Most of those “help you get your money back” groups are the same scammers.

“Carr said he was on YouTube when he saw a video that promised he could make large amounts of money trading commodities, foreign currencies and cryptocurrencies”

Youtube scam strikes again

Scammers aren’t the problem. The problem is people’s own stupidity and dumb greed. If you think rationally you won’t ever fall for a crypto scam.

Baecchus

Very sad to see. This is why there should be more education around Crypto.

Aromatic-Front-5919

I’m with you old guy, still waiting for my 4 Bitcoin.

ahabraken

Crminals will use everything to scam old people, it’s disgusting (but not crpto’s fault).

Harold838383

Of course it will all be cryptos fault too

nzubemush

This was a ‘scam’, not a ‘crypto scam’.

Castr0-

CommunityQuirky6073

Risking everything you own to a stranger over the internet is not a crypto problem, its a decision making problem.

makingbank1959

Greed can destroy you, how many times have you heard don’t put all your eggs in one basket. They used his greed against him.

yuruseiii

My parents warn me about scams, then nearly fall for one. It’s like the most ironic thing.

Jetjones

I find it funny that when I was a kid in the 90s, boomers were raising us to not believe everything we see on the internet. Because today, they’re all getting rekt by scams or or sharing misinformation. What happened?

killah10killah

Older people are vulnerable to scams. That’s the way of the world. Especially in more developed countries where people can quite easily mimick banks, building societies, pension providers and other financial institutions.

LoneWolf124875

No one made him press the buy button.

SammyCraigar

He went from investing $2,500 to investing 498k? This is the way.

redplanetlover

This is what happens when you get greedy. He thought he was getting returns of 150% per annum. Any sane person knows that is unreasonable

Raptaki

Last time I checked (most) houses aren’t on the Blockchain

LightninHooker

1credible_cow

vjeva

**TLDR;** Youtube investment advice + Fake website + Life Savings = Rekt

KnackeredParrot

Won’t be long before we have radio and TV ads warning people about crypto scams

AlphaWaifu

Crypto or no Crypto… This man was distant to be scammed. I mean there are stories like this all over the news… How do you not do 2 seconds of research? It sucks, but there is a reason these Nigerian Princes exist.
