Rival? They are exactly opposite of each other. WhatsApp wants you to provide all your personal info and tracks you like it owns you. Telegram while it’s not perfect but at least better on the privacy side.

I wouldn’t consider Whatsapp a competitor to Telegram or vice-versa. Telegram is much more popular in the Web3 community while Whatsapp remains the top preference for personal messaging.
